Match report A pleasant game which fizzled out in the end. Cryptics made a good start with the ball as debutant left-arm seamer Gaurav Kocher charged in. He swung one through the gate to dismiss Savill which was a cracking delivery, and came back well in his second spell. Will Buckland nicked off the other opening batsman, Joe Ireland was given a controversial lbw decision to dismiss OAs star man Fawcett, and with more good Cryptics outcricket, OAs were reduced to 129-5 off 29 overs. Then a couple of chances went down, for which Tom Wade and James Ainscough made the Cryptics pay. Wade celebrated his ton with a Warner-style punch in the air, jumping far into the Worth outfield.

Chasing 257 to win, the Cryptics set off slowly. Babs Oduwole negotiated a few moon balls, and Mike Stafford was untroubled until OA dobber/offie John Clapham enticed an indiscretion. When Crofton Keyes, who had earlier bowled some unplayable balls, unleashed shots all round the wicket, the chase was on, but when he left for 40, and Paul and Ben Armstrong came and went, Joe Ireland and Gaurav Kocher batted out a draw. Ireland reached his 50 with a flick over midwicket for 6, before OA skipper Hugh Ainscough shook hands with him. 20 overs had been bowled in only 55 mins, but the OAs preferred decamping to the Cowdray Arms. Thanks to them and everyone at Worth, which is always a treat as a venue.
