Cryptics CC - August letter

02 Aug 2017

Dear Member, Candidate and Friend of the Club,

We have reached the “business end” for the 2017 season - 17 days of cricket between now and the Club’s last appearance of the year at the Sandy Ross Memorial 20/20 competition on Sunday 3rd September.

The Northern Tour, Southern Tour and West Midlands Tour are just around the corner, and other long-standing fixtures against Eton Ramblers, Hampshire Hogs, Free Foresters, and Hampstead complete the season.

Having suffered a mid-season blip in availability, with the Club withdrawing from three games, we have seen success against the MCC and the Earl of Carnarvon’s XI and an honourable draw against the St Edward’s Martyrs.  Barnes unfortunately fell afoul of the weather.

With the coinciding of all our remaining games with summer holidays, it is imperative that any player who wishes to participate in any of these fixtures contacts the Match Manager ASAP offering their services, either by means of a direct email or telephone call (please refer to the Fixtures Card or the list on the Club website) or via the "Match Availability" section on the secure website.  Your contact would be gratefully received.

Please note that the details for the fixture against the Free Foresters CC have been firmly confirmed. The game will be played at The Brentham Club in Ealing, on Sunday 20th August starting at 11.30am.  Ed Montague is the Match Manager (edwardmontague@btinternet.com or 07887 775358).

A reminder also, that the game against Hampstead CC, our longest standing opponents (first played in 1912), is on the August Bank Holiday (Monday 28th August at 1.00pm). Nick Priestnall is the Match Manager (nickpriestnall@msn.com or 07850 484488).

For our non-playing Members and supporters, you are most welcome at any of these fixtures.  It is always a nice to have spectators on the boundary enjoying a good day’s cricket. If you are anticipating attending any of these games, do contact the Match Manager beforehand to confirm arrangements for the day, and most importantly to ensure additional cups of tea are catered for.

May the sun shine, runs be scored and wickets fall…preferably in the Cryptics’ favour!

Very best wishes,

The Committee
