Letter from Tour Manager, Alex Hutchinson

I hope you are wintering well. I would like to draw your attention to the pre-season tour that I am organising next year to Menorca. This follows an enjoyable tour we had to Corfu in 2013. I have had a fair amount of interest during the season so I am now looking for people to commit to it. It would be lovely to have a group of players, umpires and spectators, as in previous years, not only for the cricket but to also enjoy some sun and good food along the way. Ditchling CC (who we play bi-annually) tour there regularly and rave about it. The details are below and I have included some questions and answers,hopefully to wet your appetite for the tour! Pre-season tour to Menorca 2016 Fri 1st April - Tues 5th April (weekend after Easter) Matches on 2/3 April against Menorca CC (possibly a 3rd on the Monday)

Q&As:  
Q) What accommodation are we staying in?
A) Like previous years, I am looking to secure a hotel booking for us, on a twin basis to keep costs down. (A sole occupancy will of course be available should you wish). The hotel will be on a B&B basis so people can pick and choose where they eat in the evenings. I have been recommended a few hotels and will select the best overall option for the group but if you wanted to book somewhere yourself then that would be fine. As soon as I have an idea of numbers I will secure a group booking (and hopefully a discount!).

Q) Where will we stay and what is there to do?
A) We will stay in Mahon which is the capital of Menorca. I am assured that there are plenty of restaurants and bars to cater for most tastes and après dinner activities.

Q) Is the tour for members only?
A) Not at all. It is hoped that any potential member would be encouraged to come along and play for us as they would do during the season.

Q) Who are we playing against?
A) We have 2 matches scheduled to play against Menorca CC (40 overs per side) and possibly a 3rd on the Monday. If that doesn't materialise then golf is available or simply having the day off to relax.

Q) How much will the tour cost?
A) Flights, transfers and accommodation plus spending money. In addition, I am paying match fees up front which are 330 Euros for 2 matches which works out at 15 Euros per person per match. In the past, the committee has sometimes subsidised students/non workers - I will investigate.

Q) I want to know more information
A) Please visit www.menorcacc.com which is the cricket club's website. It has some very useful information on which will hopefully answer some questions you may have. 

Q) You've sold it to me, shall I book my flights?
A) Yes! The sooner you book them the cheaper they will be. It would help if we all arrive at a similar time but this may not be possible based on flight schedules. In the past, people have made an extended holiday out of the tour so just let me know if you are flying out sooner or later than the planned dates and if you would like to stay at the hotel.
