Cryptics Cricket Club News story

Opening match won in Alfas.

09 Apr 2022

The Club batted first on a beautiful day in L'Alfas del Pi against the 40 club.   We reached 231-8 off our 40 overs led by 90 from Callum Wood.  Paul Armstrong contributed 45 and guest Imy added a belligerent 35 at the end.

Our opponents began their reply in extraordinary fashion reaching 50 in the 4th over!  150 came up off 15 overs.  The brutal assault was led by visiting South African Dan Doyle who was retired after reaching his hundred.  The rest of the team were not able to keep up the chase and eventually were 40 runs short when the last wicket fell.   The battered Cryptics were pleased and surprised to strangle a victory!

The tour party split for the evening with one squad heading to beautiful Altea for dinner while the other took on a large paella at Enriques.
