Northern Tour Report

Yorkshire Gents

A great game to open the tour culminating in a final over win following an intense run chase. YG's won the toss and elected to bat. O'Kelly carried his bat through the innings finishing on 102no supported well by Atkinson (57). YG's declared on 226 for 4.

The Cryptics response was not the best, and at 104 for 7 we were staring defeat firmly in the face. However a 115 partnership between Andries Gous and Nick Westhead put victory within touching distance and Julian Cann finished things off from the 1st ball of the final over. Gous finished on a superb 135no and would like to take the track wherever he goes!

Great hospitality as ever from the YG's was followed by torrential rain on the way home which put the Monday game at Settle in doubt.

Settle CC

Our fears were confirmed at 9am on Monday morning when the Settle match was called off.

Durham Pilgrims

We travelled to Castle Eden on the Tuesday morning and steady rain continued all day. The first day's play was cancelled at 2pm but the forecast was much better for the Wednesday.

Some competitive indoor golf and a good night out in Newcastle kept spirits high before we re-convened on the Wednesday. Whilst the sun was out, the pitch was extremely wet and the Castle Eden club were not very keen for any play in the morning. Everything was eventually called off at 2.30 without a ball being bowled, which completed a fairly disappointing week.

Cherry Tree CC

This fixture was cancelled prior to the tour - no suitable wicket offered.

Despite a 100% win ratio - a disappointing week!
